Introducing The Kit Makers Society: A New Direction for Creative Kit Makers

If you’ve followed my work for any length of time, you know that I’ve always been deeply rooted in hands-on creativity. Over time, one pattern kept showing up again and again: creatives weren’t just asking how to make art — they were asking how to package, price, and sell what they make in a way that actually works.

That’s what led to the creation of The Kit Makers Society.

Why I’m Focusing on Handmade Art and Craft Kits

Handmade art and craft kits sit at a powerful intersection. They allow creatives to share their work, their style, and their process — while offering customers something tangible, approachable, and repeatable.

I’ve watched kit makers struggle with:

  • figuring out what actually belongs in a kit

  • pricing kits realistically

  • packaging kits so they feel intentional and valuable

  • selling kits without constant confusion or overwhelm

The problem usually isn’t creativity.
It’s clarity.

The Kit Makers Society exists to bring that clarity back into the process.

What Is The Kit Makers Society?

The Kit Makers Society is both my newsletter and my teaching community.

The Kit Makers Society
For creatives who sell handmade kits — and those learning to turn their ideas into kits people love to buy.

This is a space for creatives who want practical guidance around:

  • designing cohesive kits

  • curating materials with intention

  • packaging kits professionally

  • pricing with confidence

  • selling kits online and in person

Some members are already selling kits.
Others are refining their ideas or building their first kit thoughtfully.

Both belong here.

How This Direction Supports Real Creative Businesses

This work is rooted in real product-based creativity, not theory.

The Kit Makers Society is built around:

  • best practices that actually apply to handmade products

  • decisions that affect sales, not just aesthetics

  • lessons learned from experience, not trends

The focus isn’t on making more noise.
It’s on making better kits — kits that are clear, well-considered, and easy for customers to say yes to.

The Connection to The Little Sparrow Collective

The Kit Makers Society is directly connected to The Little Sparrow Collective, which serves as a curated marketplace.

For some makers, the Society is about learning and refining.
For others, it’s about collaboration and selling alongside other kit makers.

The two work together:

  • The Kit Makers Society supports the how

  • The Little Sparrow Collective supports the where

This creates a complete ecosystem for kit makers who want their work to be seen, valued, and sold without unnecessary complexity.

What You’ll Find in the Kit Makers Society Newsletter

The newsletter will focus on:

  • practical insights for kit makers

  • clear thinking around product decisions

  • common mistakes and how to avoid them

  • behind-the-scenes considerations that affect sales

  • grounded encouragement rooted in experience

No hype.
No vague inspiration.
Just useful perspective for people making real things.

Moving Forward

This new direction isn’t about doing something entirely different.
It’s about naming what’s always been at the center of my work — helping creatives create products that make sense, feel good to sell, and are received well by the people buying them.

If you create handmade art or craft kits — or you’re working toward that — The Kit Makers Society is where this conversation continues.
